LEAF has a motto and a business plan much different from the rest of the thousands of big and small millers in the state. The company wants to focus on the staple food for millions of Indians. That is the reason the company is today focusing on processing the non basmati varieties of rice.
Contrary to basmati rice production being very limited and the product being expensive, the non basmati rice has very low price and meets to needs of every one.
The company has invested large sums on procurement so that the rice is produced throughout the year and gets distributed. The company supplies such rice to Food Corporation (FCI) of India which is the a storage and distribution arm of the Government of India. The company also directly sends the produce to any where in the country on the directions of FCI. The company also distributes rice through various traders who visit the Punjab Grain markets.
